NxTV, Inc. Launches New HDTV Entertainment Technology at HITEC 2005

LOS ANGELES, Jun 20, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) - NxTV Inc., the leading provider of digital IP-based entertainment and data services to the luxury hotel market, today announced that it will launch its new High Definition set-top-box at HITEC 2005, being held in Los Angeles. The new HD STB will display High Definition video-on-demand movies from major Hollywood studios and other content sources, plus Satellite and Cable HDTV programming. The company will begin rollout in July 2005.

To enhance in-room interior design, the company's new HD STB has been developed to operate quietly, be hidden some distance away from the flat-panel TV, and deliver superior performance and reliability packaged in a compact form-factor. A built-in MPEG 1/2/4 hardware video decoder, complemented by a GHz processor, handles HD resolutions up to 1080i or 720p and supports a compelling graphical user interface. An HDMI video-out port supports HDCP for digital copy protection.

The STB supports video-on-demand delivery of encrypted HD content over the same IP network infrastructure used to provide other broadband services, and can be configured with an ATSC/NTSC/PAL tuner capable of tuning off-air HDTV programming from Satellite or Cable TV providers.

"As a single source entertainment provider, more and more hotel customers are looking to us to provide a technology platform that supports all future developments such as HDTV," said James Miles, NxTV's President & CEO. "We are therefore delighted to announce the launch of our new HD technology, which together with the introduction by hotels of more in-room flat panel TVs, will certainly enhance the overall guest experience."

NxTV is the leading IP provider in HD & Digital television-centered entertainment and data services, with over 25,000 luxury rooms worldwide at hotels including St. Regis, W, Peninsula, Four Seasons, Le Meridien, and JW Marriott. NxTV, Inc. is headquartered in Los Angeles and has offices in Las Vegas, Dallas, Orlando and Hong Kong, with New York and Chicago opening by the end of 2005.

All services will be fully integrated with both Plasma and LCD flat-panel TVs with LG, Panasonic, Philips and Sony brands on display.
