Sony Unveils LCD Displays for the Hospitality Market
PARK RIDGE, N.J., June 20, 2006 - Sony is introducing two high-definition professional-grade
BRAVIA® LCD monitors designed for use in the hospitality market. The new models
- KLH-W32U and KLH-W26U - feature Sony's BRAVIA Engine signal processing technology
and screen sizes of 32 and 26 inches, respectively (viewable area, measured diagonally).
Both of the new displays are available with features specific for the hospitality industry. They include a
card slot for the new Enseo internal HDTV tuner ICS-SP30, which is compatible with many providers of in-room
pay-per-view (PPV) content that use Pro:Idiom encryption technology, such as OnCommand and LodgeNet.
The displays are also compatible with providers of other encryption technologies for secure highdefinition
PPV studio content, including nStreams, NxTV and Guest-Tek.
"As the hospitality industry continues its transition to flat-panel and high-definition technologies,
operators are looking for the highest level of flexibility and support," said John Kaloukian, director of marketing
for Sony Electronics' professional display group. "We are bringing the strength of our BRAVIA LCD TV
technology to hoteliers, offering compatibility with an array of providers for more options to securely receive and
view HD content."
Both of the displays feature a 16:9 aspect ratio, 1366 x 768 high-definition resolution and a wide
viewing angle. Rear video inputs include two composite, two S-Video with input detection, one component video
(Y/Pb/Pr), one HDMI connection with left/right audio inputs and one D-sub 15 PC input with stereo mini
connectivity.
The new displays are capable of 20-watt stereo audio output, with SRS WOW (TM)
audio enhancement. In addition to VESA-compliant mounting and an integrated bottom
speaker design, they are also are available with a removable stand.
The KLH-W32U and KLH-W26U BRAVIA monitors, as well as the full line of Sony FWD professional
displays include, as standard, a limited product warranty of two years for parts and labor (one year on the
panel), including onsite service (see actual warranty for details).
