NxTV Expands Digital IP Video Capability; Proves Viability of Direct Internet Delivery
NxTV shows unlimited entertainment scalability with direct Internet entertainment delivery and expanded servers
LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2007 - NxTV, Inc., the first and largest IPVOD provider in the hospitality industry, today announced it completed implementation of its new digital entertainment servers, with the largest capacity in the industry, to maximize revenue-building opportunities for its clients. NxTV's July movie lineup will feature over 250 movies on demand, the largest selection in the industry, including both recent Hollywood blockbusters and smaller box-office independent films. NxTV also tested and proved the ability of its IPVOD technology to deliver guest programming directly over a secured Internet connection. The company's new server capacity combined with its ability in the future to deliver Internet-direct entertainment will give operators a virtually unlimited range of viewing options to increase viewer satisfaction and generate additional revenue.
NxTV President Russell P. Reeder said, "NxTV vastly expanded the scalability of its technology by proving the viability of using the Internet on a secured link to deliver IP video on demand. This capability means that in the near future NxTV can provide unlimited on-demand content anywhere there is an Internet connection. Our clients can offer a vast spectrum of entertainment to tap guests' interests and generate additional revenue." Reeder added that "viewers are expecting more and more entertainment options to be available to them on demand." With its just-completed rollout of high-capacity video servers, NxTV's hotel customers now offer their guests the widest selection of on-demand content, appealing to a broader range of interests. As a result, guests will have a better in-room experience and hotels will see improved revenues.
Reeder explained that the traveling public is experiencing a shift in entertainment preferences due to the increased popularity of social media and other alternative programming. "Operators are now implementing systems that utilize converged IP networks throughout their properties to take advantage of emerging alternate programming revenue-building opportunities. NxTV's system already leverages the advantages of converged networks, and its ability to make the leap to Internet delivery will enable its clients in hospitality and other markets to further capitalize on this trend."
NxTV is the leading provider of interactive digital IP-based in-room entertainment and technology solutions in the hospitality industry. With a converged IP network, technologies such as HD VOD, IPTV, Free to Guest content, high-speed Internet access and communication with mini-bar, Voice over IP and POS systems all leverage one converged IP network for greater cost savings, reliability, improved applications integration, scalability and increased revenue. "NxTV is delivering IP-based in-room services now and has been doing so for almost a decade," Reeder said.
IP-Network platform is essential for the future
NxTV's IP VOD system enables hotel owners to take full advantage of new technology today and in the future. Designed specifically to carry digital information securely, IP infrastructure is the only option for operating with a converged network. It permits scalability in today's digital VOD systems and streamlines integration with other hotel applications. NxTV's system runs over the hotel's existing converged IP network, letting the property communicate with a wide variety of in-room technologies without the cost and effort of installing and maintaining separate networks for each hotel technology.
NxTV is exhibiting at HITEC 2007, June 26-28 in Orlando. Visit booth #317 to learn more about the future of converged IP networks on NxTV's digital IP-platform.
