Latest NSE Version 8.13 Delivers Enhanced Performance & Uncompromising Security

Version 8.13 of the Nomadix Service Engine Provides Expanded Administration Privileges and Embedded Administration Access Codes Along with 802.1ad Protocol Support

Expanded Administration Privileges

Administration privileges have been expanded with the addition of a new role called Staff. Users logging in to the Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) using Staff administration privileges have visibility to the Subscriber Administration menu only, allowing for the day-to-day duties necessary to create, print and delete Access Codes, manage subscriber devices and view statistics. The Staff role provides a more secure, granular approach to managing the NSE when used with the current administration privileges of the Manager, Operator and XML roles.

Access Codes

The NSE will now support Access Code plans. Access Codes can be generated through management web access parameters such as prefix/suffix and session time. Once designed Access Codes can then be easily printed with a click of a button. When combined with the Staff administration privileges, the NSE provides a simple secure method to monetize Internet access.

802.1ad Dual VLAN Tagging

With NSE Version 8.13, it is now possible to have more than the 4094 separate VLANs allowed by 802.1Q. 802.1ad is based upon 802.1Q but allows for VLANs to be nested by adding two tags to each frame instead of one, a technique commonly known as VLAN stacking or QinQ. This multi-tagged solution gives network service providers the ability to support both 4094 single user (inner) tags along with 4094 customer (outer) tags, allowing segregation of traffic from different properties.

SSH Secure Shell Port

To reduce the number of attacks on an appliance, the Secure Shell (SSH) port is now configurable. The same port is used for secure command line management and secure file transfers (SFTP). The default remains port 22.
